Each battleground consists of a large number of planetary systems
connected only by hyperspace "tunnels," which we call links. The
Overseers have constructed several different battlegrounds to test you
and aid you in your evolution. You may join as many battlegrounds as
you wish.
You will enter a battleground leading one or more planets. You have
absolute command over your planets and the creatures that live there.
They will create spaceships for you, and crew them. They will travel
between stars and fight to conquer others and defend their homes. It
is a harsh world, but the Overseers believe that only through strife
comes Ascension.
Time behaves differently in each Battleground. Some move forward very
quickly, some move forward very slowly. Some move forward constantly,
others freeze in place for long periods of time. While a short time
passes for you, years will pass in the Battlegrounds.
Choose your Battleground carefully. When you first start, try the
faster battlegrounds to get a feel for how the game works. After you
get the hang of things, pick the battlegrounds which best suit your
needs. If you want to spend a few hours at a time playing Tyrannus,
then choose the very fast games. If you want to log in now and then
throughout the day to maintain your empire, choose a slower game.
